Dillon Consulting Limited, working on behalf of the Toronto Port Authority, has completed an environmental assessment of the Toronto Port Authority’s “Lakefill Within Marine Exclusion Zone (Keep-Out-Area)” project.
The Toronto Port Authority is planning to fill in an area of the lake on the east end of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport’s main runway. The stated purpose of filling the lake in the proposed area is to deter boats from entering the “marine exclusion zone” near the airport, where boats are already prohibited, using rock extracted from the pedestrian tunnel to the airport, which is already under construction.
The environmental assessment provides analysis of the effects this project will have on the community, including noise and potential impact on aquatic life in the lake.
