City Council Votes to Study Jets at Airport

From the Toronto Star:

City council voted 29-15 to authorize a staff study of issues around a Porter Airlines request to extend the island airport runway so that jets can start flying into the downtown facility.

Porter Airlines chief executive Robert Deluce welcomed the Tuesday evening vote and said his company will pay for the study, expected to be done by a consultant.

The study will be presented to the Toronto City Council in July, after which council will vote on whether to allow jet engine planes to land at the island airport.
